We hope to make this the GFM staff "home" for digital communications. So that you don't have to dig up all the different articles on this topic, we are pulling together resources from days gone by and will add the resources to come to this digital communications "home." These are posted most recent first.
2016 GFM National Staff Conference
- Seminar: Talking Past Each Other?: Toward More Effective Online Communication
- In an age of internet outrage, online communication can be full of landmines. Whether the topic is race, the presidential election, church conflict, or economic policy, talking about it online can be tricky. But we can’t opt out of online engagement—the internet is here to stay. How might we communicate ideas online in a way that is both bold and loving? How do we think about giving offense? When should we wade in, and when should we save the conversation for voice-to-voice? In this seminar, The Well hosts an embodied discussion about how to love one another better as we communicate online. Our hope is that this seminar will be enlightening, fruitful, and a safe space to ask questions. We desire to serve staff as they participate in hard conversations and model healthy online engagement. -Anna Gissing & team
- Seminar: Social Media 101: Developing a Digital Ministry Strategy
- Tom Grosh IV will begin the seminar by offering the basics of developing a digital ministry strategy. Kirsten Wagenius and Bob Trube will share how to engage people and curate material through social media. Matt Sally will propose MailChimp as a tool for focused communications to a number of audiences. After the short presentations, the team will take questions from participants. Note: PDF of Tom's Power Point, which is an adaption of the 2015 Social Media Workshop Power Point.
- Tour of the "new" GFM Website!
- You may know, we had a major website overhaul in 2014. Well, we got to do a minor update in 2015 to bring us into a new version of our website management system. Check out the new website with a Power Point tour! We recommend following along online and then exploring the many resources and sub-ministry pages.
