Judith Dean

Dr. Judy Dean and Dr. Vanessa Quainoo will be moderating discussions following the keynote presentation each evening. We are anticipating a rich time of dialog with the speakers, and community conversation in relation to each of the evening contributions.

Dr. Judith Dean is professor of economics at Brandeis University and a visiting scholar at the U.S. International Trade Commission. She graduated from Gordon College with a B.A. in Economics and is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of that institution. She went on to Cornell University for an M.A. and a Ph.D. in Economics. She began her career as an assistant professor at Bowdoin College, and then as an associate professor at the School of Advanced International Studies of Johns Hopkins University. She has authored and co-authored a number of significant publications and given testimony in Washington D.C. on a number of crucial trade issues. She has consulted for the World Bank and OECD and has been a visiting scholar at the Indian Statistical Institute in New Delhi, India. In 2000 she joined the Office of Economics, Research Division of the United States International Trade Commission, where she was a senior international economist until 2010. Her teaching and research focus on the impact of trade policies on developing countries.

Judy is an active member and past president of the Association of Christian Economists, and a member of the Board of World Relief.
