Some faculty have the time and desire to lead faculty ministry events. Others welcome an event but hope for a catalyst to make it happen. For those who welcome someone from the outside coming in to help, I have found that simply showing up with my title, a word or two from Scripture, and a few good questions, can be powerful. During this season of outreach to new grad students and faculty let’s pray for one another, for our student and faculty leaders and for God’s work in hearts and lives. May God give us wisdom, strength and grace as we respond to the needs of those around us and may His purposes be fulfilled and His name honored.

By now, most of you have settled into the new academic year. NSO events are winding down and you are catching your breath after initiating lots of conversations and drinking more cups of coffee than you care to remember. As you follow up with new graduate students and faculty, a pithy email pointing to excellent resources will serve them and not add too much to your already overly full calendar.
