It is with great pleasure and enthusiasm that I announce that Gary Hogans has agreed (with much excitement) to become our next National Black Scholars and Professionals (BSAP) Director effective July 1, 2023!
Previously, Gary worked successfully as a manager with AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals before retiring early to volunteer with InterVarsity. For the past six years, he has poured into the lives of graduate students, faculty and staff at California State University Dominguez Hills, the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and Greek students on the West Coast. He is an active member of the national BSAP Coordinating Committee and serves as an Intercessory Prayer Trainer. In addition, Gary serves as the Assistant Pastor at Calvary Chapel Crenshaw in Los Angeles, CA and as International Deputy Chief of Staff for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Gary is focused on executing the BSAP vision of seeing a generation of African Americans and people of African descent who are graduate students, faculty, and/or professionals being transformed by Christ, being renewed in their academic pursuits or professional lives, and becoming agents of transformation within the Black community, the church, and the world. Special attention on our HBCU’s is a primary focus.
Gary holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Cal State University Long Beach and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He and his wife Gwendolyn reside in Los Angeles, CA and have two children, four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Please welcome Gary and this new season for BSAP! I’m looking forward to the leadership Gary will bring to Graduate & Faculty Ministries, BSAP, the BCM (Black Campus Ministries) Community and more broadly in InterVarsity.
Blessings,
Marcia
