2021 Midwest Graduate Christian Fellowship Winter Retreat
Walking with Jesus: Spiritual Formation in the University
Join us for the Grad Christian Fellowship Winter Retreat Friday evening, January 22 through Saturday, January 23 at 12:30 pm. Together via Zoom video meeting, we’ll explore the theme Walking with Jesus: Spiritual Formation in the University. While past winter retreats have primarily served students from Chicago area schools, the University of Illinois, and Purdue, due to the virtual nature of our conference this year, we are excited to welcome grad students from all over the Midwest! Small, in-person, on-campus gatherings may be possible as well. Whether you’ve been following Jesus for a while, are new to the journey, or perhaps are still pondering your faith, we welcome you!
Our hope is that through this experience you will:
- Connect with interesting and friendly grad students from across IN/IL
- Learn how to better pray for your life on campus and your university
- Have practical next steps for responding to Jesus’ invitation to join his mission in the university

Our speaker for the weekend will be Elizabeth (Lisa) Sung, Ph.D. She teaches theology courses for Regent College (Vancouver, British Columbia) and partner academic institutions in China, and is a Visiting Researcher at the University of St. Mary of the Lake (Mundelein, Illinois). In both academic and ministry contexts, she teaches theology aiming to foster the lived reality of personal integrity and flourishing in Christ, within a framework that reconnects systematic theology to spiritual formation, moral transformation, and missional living. For her full bio, click here.
Registration will open January 1, 2021. If you plan to attend, please join our facebook group to learn more, receive updates, and hear from our conference planning team. Living in this virtual world offers us the opportunity to get to know one another in advance of the conference so please feel free to share your field of study, tell us what school you call home, or just say hello when you join.
In the past, we have been able to offer partial scholarships through the generosity of alumni and other ministry partners. We want everyone who wants to come to be there! While our event will be hosted online this year, we still have many costs to cover and we would love to have your financial and prayer support. Please contact your InterVarsity Campus Staff Minister if you would like to request a scholarship or click here to donate toward this event.
