Douglas Jackson

Retired InterVarsity GFM Staff

Douglas Jackson will be giving leadership to our times of engagement with God's Word throughout the conference.  As we work through The Letter of James, we will be working directly with the text in large and small group settings as well as learning more about the theological richness of the whole of the letter as a preface to our daily Scripture engagements.  Morning devotional times with opportunities for shared reflections are also built into the schedule, allowing for engagement with additional Scripture texts.

Douglas has recently retired as the Regional Coordinator for InterVarsity Faculty Ministry in the Graduate and Faculty Ministries Northeast Region and is working in a volunteer capacity this year as consulting director for the conference.   He joined InterVarsity staff after retiring from an active career of teaching in the area of Old Testament studies and Hebrew.  Building on a graduate seminary program in New Testament literature and exegesis, and enriched by a strong interest in Old Testament theology, the challenges of the Old Testament studies soon became the center of his teaching project.   His research program was located in the area of modern hermeneutics and focused on issues related to metaphor theory and the interpretation of figurative language.  Douglas has a special interest in the hermeneutics of Paul Ricoeur.
